There are two courses in UK to be a Registered Nurse.
One is Diploma for three years, and the other is Degree for three years.
Diploma is more likely to being vocational purpose without writing an essay last year. It is a free course, but it needs two more years to get Degree after graduation.
Degree course is more likely academic and is needed to be paid as an overseas student fee, about 7000-8000 pounds per year.
Both are same to become a Registered Nurse in UK and before joining the course you must have IELTS 6.5 in academic module. These course are in many Universities and Colleges in UK, which are connected with hospitals to practice during the course.
These two courses are different from NVQ (in healthcare), which can't be a member of NMC(Nursing & Midwifary Council).
It's up to you to choose Diploma or Degree. It depends on your circumstances.
Good luck!
p.s. You can extend student visa if you already have a student visa, but first you need to be accepted by univerisities or colleges.
